When you earn a University of Portland master’s or doctoral degree in education, you take a bold step forward in a meaningful career. We offer three immersive programs:
Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)
Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs (MA HESA)
Doctor of Education (EdD), including a concentration in one of four areas:

School Leadership and Development
Organizational Leadership and Development
Nursing Education and Leadership
Each program pairs valuable faculty mentorship with a rigorous curriculum and hands-on opportunities, empowering you to reimagine what’s possible in the field of education.
The 30-credit master’s program can be completed in 2 years, with part-time options available.
You’ll build a strong professional network of higher education administrators, student affairs personnel and industry leaders at UP and beyond. Local, regional and national partnerships are an essential component of the MA HESA.
The Doctor of Education offers four concentrations: (1) School Leadership and Development (eligible for principal licensure), (2) Organizational Leadership and Development (eligible for professional administrator licensure), (3) Higher Education and Student Affairs, or (4) Nursing Education and Leadership.
Post-master’s programs may be eligible for transfer credit completed at UP or other institutions, so you can pursue your passion without interruption.
